I am a licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC) and I am
in-network with most major health insurance companies. I work with almost 20 other extremely competent counselors at Arden Woods Psychological Services in New Brighton, MN. I received my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and post graduate training in Marriage and Family Therapy from Bethel University. I am a MN board-approved LPCC supervisor and have experience supervising, consulting, developing and leading teams, and teaching in higher education.
I specialize in helping people make behavioral changes or who need healing from difficult circumstances. I can help you address specific concerns related to life transitions, relationships, identity formation, stress and anxiety, anger, depression, sexual addiction, shame, forgiveness, spirituality, and vocation.
As a person I am approachable, discerning, transparent, good-humored, and playful. As a therapist I am well-practiced and always open to learning new things. I believe in the counseling process and have seen it play a significant part in changing people’s lives for the better.
In a nutshell, here’s how I do my job:
I help others reconstruct their way of thinking and change their behavior through a storytelling approach. Whether the concerns are over a relationship, an addiction, a mood, or a way of life, there are gaps that often develop between our positive intentions and our preferred outcomes. But I have found people are often able to close these gaps by developing richer or broader ways of thinking about themselves and others around them. It is a method in which my clients are invited to explore pain, hurt, and mistakes while also layering in grace, acceptance, healing, and strength. Through the process clients experience themselves in new and deeply authentic ways that resonate with the core of who they are.
Seeing therapy play a significant part in changing people’s lives for the better is incredibly fulfilling and it’s why I look forward every day to coming to work.
