I sometimes get asked in either/or terms whether counseling is really a good idea when there are so many good resources out there for people. I understand that we all don't have unlimited time and money and we can't necessarily do everything at once. However, I've found the following analogy helpful if you are considering this question... Consider what a healthy diet looks like: we can't eat all kinds of food at the same time, but we certainly can eat many different kinds of food as those good nutritious foods are available to us. It doesn't have to be an either/or, but rather a both/and. There is a time and season for fresh picked apples, or tomato soup, or maybe even birthday cake.
